The children may be on their Easter break, but Wyvern School is a hive of activity as £20,000 worth of energy efficient LED lighting is installed in all of the classrooms in the main school building.

The work is taking place thanks to the British Airways Fund accessed via social investment organisation Pure Leapfrog. Wolverton Community Energy are also making a capital contribution to the project.

It is estimated that the new lighting will cut the lighting bills of the school by around 50%, but the benefit won’t just be financial.

There is increasing evidence that LED lighting has a positive impact on children’s learning, and WCE is looking forward to working with the school to evaluate the impact on the children’s levels of concentration and willingness to learn.
