Cheaper, greener energy could soon be here for the communities of Stewkley, Drayton Parslow and Newton Longville, thanks to funding from the Rural Community Energy Fund to Wolverton Community Energy.

The Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF) has awarded Wolverton Community Energy £17,125 grant funding to investigate the feasibility of building a solar farm at Prospect Farm in Drayton Parslow, with an additional £130,000 of loan funding possible should the solar farm project prove viable.

We are currently exploring ways to make the solar farm workable using a combination of new technologies and grid sharing ideas. The farm could be raising finance by summer 2018.

Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF)

RCEF is a £15 million programme, delivered by WRAP and jointly funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (DBEIS). It supports rural communities in England to develop renewable energy projects which provide economic and social benefits to the community.
